A Spectral Dominance Decorrelation Met- Hod for Stereo Acoustic Echo Cancellation

In stereophonic acoustic echo cancellation, the two stereophonic channels are usually strongly correlated, which leads to non-unique solution of adaptive filters. Therefore, the filter misalignment gets large and the tracking capability is poor. In this paper, a novel decorrelation method based on psychoacoustic effect is proposed for stereo acoustic echo cancellation. Spectral dominance effect is employed at low frequencies (≤ 1 kHz) and a modified nonlinear transformation technique is applied to high frequencies (> 1 kHz). Simulation comparisons are carried out to verify the performance of the proposed method. Results show that, the proposed method can effectively ameliorate the problem of non-unique solution and retain good stereophonic perception simultaneously.
